Operation Walk: El Salvador

When Dr. Aaron Hofmann started the Utah chapter of Operation Walk in 2007, he imagined doing free surgeries in third-world countries with a team of volunteers. That hope became a reality when in just three days in May, Dr. Hofmann performed 44 joint surgeries on disadvantaged patients in San Salvador, El Salvador. He was assisted by 42 volunteer surgeons, nurses and scrub technicians from the United States.

Operation Walk Utah Returns to El Salvador

The Hofmann Arthritis Institute team was thrilled to be able to return to San Salvador, El Salvador. There was a large waiting list of patients suffering from debilitating arthritis who needed knee and hip replacements.

Our September 22-27th trip to El Salvador we had...

The Hofmann Arthritis Institute and Operation Walk team was able to treat 42 females and 13 males ages 30-80 years old with potentially life-saving total knee and hip surgeries during our most recent trip to El Salvador.

Thank you to all who make this possible

We’d like to thank all the nurses, physical therapists, physician assistants, anesthesiologists, surgeons, medical doctors, and support personnel that volunteered their own time and resources to this great organization. It was also wonderful to see some patients who had joint replacements in years past show up to thank the team and help out where they could.
