Our trip to El Salvador in October 2012 is underway. The screening process for the new recipients has begun. Medical staff is gearing up at home and abroad.
We have already begun the screening process for this outstanding relief effort. As always, donations are encouraged. Due to the private donations of patients who are familiar with the life-changing operation of a total joint replacement we have been able to continue our missions.
Medical education is an important component to this trip. El Salvadorian doctors will be observing and assisting in the surgery so that they can gain exposure to the latest orthopedic surgery techniques and technologies. The Operation Walk team also includes physical therapists who will train local practitioners to appropriately care for the patients after the team leaves. To ensure the successful outcomes of the joint replacement procedures, extensive physical therapy is needed for weeks after the surgeries.
As many medical professionals are donating time, and manufacturers have donated some supplies, we still need your help.
